Introduction

 iPlay is convieniently located at 49 Manners Mall in central Wellington and can be found using the map

on this site.  We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you can come and visit whenever it suits you.  The cafe has 66 machines split into 3 sections - Internet, Under 16 games (can be changed to Internet) and an R16 games section.  There is also a desk where laptop users can plug into our LAN or use our wireless access point. iPlay prides itself on the layout and maintenance of the equipment in the cafe.  Large, office style, desks are setup with uptodate, well-maintained, hardware and a large selection of

 software.  Our Staff are familiar with all the software loaded and will be more than happy to help,

 should you need it.  Security is taken very seriously at iPlay.  This takes a number of forms, the first of

 which is computer management software that protects you, as far as we can, from malicious software

 such as viruses and keyloggers.  We also have security cameras installed for your physical protection

 as well. The following details some of the services found in our Internet section:

 

 

 Browsing, email and messaging

 All Internet machines are loaded with a selection of Instant Messaging programs including MSN, ICQ

 and Yahoo.  Web based email programs can be accessed through the browser and video links can be

 established with the webcams.  All machines have headphones with microphones, so that you can have

 conversations with whoever you wish to contact.  The browser can obviously be used for standard

 surfing of the net and we provide a 'Useful Links' page for your convenience.  This page provides links

 to useful New Zealand and International sites. We allow downloading of files/software as long as the

 download is legal, for example, iTunes is pre-loaded.  Excessive downloads will, however, attract a

 small extra charge.

 

 

 Photographs

 We have extensive facilities for those customers that would like to manage their photographs.  Our

 memory card readers allow you to access the photo files.  Each machine has a number of editing

 programs, including Photoshop Elements, so that you can edit the photos until you are happy with them.

 At this point you can either use our high quality laser printer to print them out or alternatively you can

 burn them to a CD or DVD with the burners on the machines.

 

 

 Office work

 Many customers come to iPlay to use our Office applications.  The full Microsoft Office suite is loaded

 as well as Works and Open Office.  One of the benefits with Open Office is that it can write PDF files if

 this is something you wish to do.  Spreadsheet work, University assignments and many other tasks can

 be completed and the results printed out on our laser printer.  For example, if you are looking for a

 job, our 'useful links' page can be used to browse a selection of New Zealand's most popular employment

 agencies, and then you can type out or edit your Curriculum Vitae with Microsoft Word.  We also have

 a scanner if you need to scan documents such as qualification certificates and a fax service.

 

 

Relaxation

Why not plug your MP3 player into the USB port and sit back and relax, listening to your favourite

music whilst browsing the web.  Alternatively, you could watch a DVD from the DVD drive on the

computer.  Any of these options can be enjoyed with a drink and/or snack from iPlay's

extensive selection.

 

 

Charges

 iPlay charges per minute of time spent on the machines and there is no minimum charge.  You pay for

 the time that you use and not for what you do on the machine.  Therefore it doesn't matter if you are

 writing your CV or burning photos onto a DVD, the charge for the time is the same.  However, some

 extra charges do apply such as printouts, drinks, snacks, storage media and excessive downloading

 etc. Prices for these are displayed in the cafe as well our the special rates.  Membership is free and

 once you have joined you can take advantage of the bulk deals and loyalty rates.
